What do I do if I keep getting error messages when I use this Build Your Own Bead Necklace or Bracelet feature?
If you are encountering difficulties or errors while using RIVA New York’s Build Your Own Bead Necklace or Bracelet page, we apologize. This page is built on an “app” or program that we appended to our Shopify store, and updates to this “app” or program do need to be applied manually (i.e., not automatic). Please contact us ASAP if you feel the errors you are encountering are due to a technical issue, and we will do our best to resolve it (we can even take your order manually over the phone). If you are receiving error messaging in the form of a pop-up, it is highly likely that it is because you skipped a required step. Take note that some steps are required (like picking a bead base, a length for your necklace/bracelet, an Invisible Clasp, a metal/style for your Invisible Clasp, etc.). If you skipped a required step, the Builder will not allow you to go to the next step, much less add your item to the cart.
What if I only want the glass bead necklace/bracelet component, and not the Invisible Clasp part?
You will not be able to purchase a standalone recycled glass bead necklace or bracelet without an Invisible Clasp using this Build Your Own Bead Necklace or Bracelet page. This page will require you to choose an Invisible Clasp to go with your beads before you can proceed to ADD TO CART. To get a recycled glass bead necklace or bracelet without an Invisible Clasp, please exit this Builder page and proceed to the regular listing page of the bead necklace or bracelet style you wish to purchase standalone. Take note, though, that the bead necklaces and bracelets are the “foundation” for our Expression Collection, which means they do not come with a closure—which is why you will need to pair them with an Invisible Clasp. But if you already own a RIVA New York Invisible Clasp, then, by all means, you may proceed to purchase the bead necklace/bracelet by itself!
What if I only want the Invisible Clasp component, and not the beads part?
You will not be able to purchase a standalone Invisible Clasp without a foundation glass bead necklace or bracelet using this Build Your Own Bead Necklace or Bracelet page. This page will require you to choose a bead necklace or bracelet to go with your Invisible Clasp before you can proceed to ADD TO CART. To get an Invisible Clasp without a the bead component, please exit this Builder page and proceed to the regular listing page of the Invisible Clasp you wish to purchase standalone. Take note, though, that our Invisible Clasps are designed especially for our recycled glass bead necklaces and bracelets. If you already have a RIVA New York bead necklace or bracelet, then, by all means, you may proceed to purchase the Invisible Clasp by itself! We cannot guarantee that the Invisible Clasp will fit non-RIVA New York bead products.

The recycled glass beads are from the wonderful Krobo people in Ghana, of course, but the chain component and the finished piece are assembled with tender loving care by talented team in our Brooklyn, NY, facility.

Why Recycled Glass Beads?
When we started conceptualizing designs for bead necklaces and bead bracelets in the fall of 2021, we had onyx beads and white jade beads in the drawing board. That was the direction we were going to take: gemstone beads. But then as we did the rounds to look for these beads, we got confronted by a harsh reality: it was fiendishly difficult to find onyx and white jade that were traceable. Even when we approached ethical gem suppliers at the trade shows, nobody was offering onyx and white jade. So we decided to scrap the gemstone beads idea altogether, and luckily we were able to stumble upon a neat alternative: a supplier who could provide us with recycled glass beads! These Fair Trade glass beads are from the Krobo people of Ghana, who make the beads by crushing discarded glass bottles into fine particles, which are then heat-treated and molded into beads using clay molds. They have been using this technique for many generations. So as you wear your recycled glass bead piece from RIVA New York, remember that you are supporting meaningful income opportunities for artisans of the Krobo people and their families!
