RIVA New York’s Fairmined Collection aims to introduce ethically and sustainably mined gold to a new generation of jewelry lovers who care as much about traceability and responsibility as they do about luster. Our inaugural pieces have foundations that are not so much stylistic as they are structural—going back to basics with just a simple rounded band, a simple chain, etc.—each of them adorned with just a single gold grain, which is the fundamental unit from which all jewelry is built up. The understated designs are very much intentional—we wanted them to be fluid enough to be worn by anyone, regardless of personal style; and elemental enough so as to be a constant reminder of the gold’s honorable and unassailable provenance. A piece that can be traced from your person back to the artisanal/small-scale mines of origin? Now that is a badge of honor.
